Iberia has made a significant change to its Dallas/Fort Worth schedule. As first spotted by the eagle-eyed Ishrion Aviation, which is reflected in Cirium Diio, winter flights will leave Madrid at 00:55 and arrive in Texas at 05:30 local time. This will be earlier than any other European-originating winter passenger service in the US/Canada. This schedule resembles some of the Spanish carrier’s South American flights.
For obvious reasons, such a schedule is extremely unusual between Europe and the US/Canada. Indeed, in November 2025, just one in 417 westbound passenger flights across the North Atlantic will be timed like this. Iberia will be only the second passenger operator, alongside Turkish Airlines from Istanbul Airport. However, while Turkish Airlines has two routes with overnight flights during the summer (Miami and New York JFK), there is only one during the winter (Miami).
Iberia To Operate Overnight To Dallas/Fort Worth

On October 26, northern carriers, including Iberia, will switch to winter schedules based on IATA slot seasons. Then, Iberia will serve Dallas four weekly (down from daily in the summer) aboard the Airbus A330-300. It will supplement transatlantic joint venture partner American Airlines’ daily operation on the 777-200ER. Without the partnership and the oneworld connection, Iberia would not fly to the Texas hub.
The new and old schedules are shown below. By departing Madrid after midnight, flights (like those to South America) will be fed by many arriving services from across Europe. The early arrival in the Lone Star State will connect to many more departures on American than Iberia’s previously planned mid-evening arrival time. The arrival time in Madrid (similar to many of Iberia’s long-haul flights) will connect to dozens of markets. The pair must be confident of growing competitiveness and market share to make such a change.
Winter Red-Eye Flights From Europe To North America

The following table summarizes the two routes based on November data. When Turkish Airlines inaugurated Miami flights in 2015, they operated during the day to Florida, just like the carrier’s other North American services. However, when frequencies increased in 2021, the additional takeoffs left Türkiye soon after midnight. This setup will continue in winter 2025/2026, with its 02:10 departure supplementing its daily 15:10 service, which arrives in the US at 20:40.
Notice Istanbul to New York JFK is not listed. Turkish Airlines’ red-eye only operates during the summer to capture peak demand. It will return on June 10, with the operating 787-9 departing from Istanbul at 00:50 and arriving in the Big Apple at 04:30 local time. It will then leave JFK at 06:45 and arrive home at 23:25, an example of a rare daytime eastbound European service. When this service returns, Turkish Airlines will have four daily JFK flights (and one to Newark).
Iberia’s Winter Long-Haul Overnight Flights From Madrid
While things might change, as of April 16, the latest information shows that Iberia will operate the eight long-haul routes overnight from Barajas. Its redesigned Dallas/Fort Worth schedule means it will be the latest departure and the least-served market. It stands out like a sore thumb.
Over the past twenty years, Iberia’s schedule shows that various other long-haul destinations had overnight services, including Córdoba, Guatemala City, Johannesburg, Guayaquil, Luanda, and Quito. Of these, it still serves Guatemala City, Guayaquil, and Quito, with all flights departing Spain during the day.
